The river-bottom soil is simply the best in the area and has received supplements for the past decade. The soil here is un-matched in western Colorado! We have built five greenhouses of various sizes which are all in perfect working condition (one with propane heating) and are included with property. This small farm has all of the tools (including a 27 hp Kubota tractor with implements - included in the price if desired) needed for a farmer ready to take over the business. The farm is in a class of it's own as far as butterfly, bird, tree and shrub variety. Owners received a grant from the NRCS to plant 1/2 acre of native shrubs (some of which provide berries for jam!) along river to benefit wildlife and stabilize the river bank. To demonstrate the avian diversity the owners can provide a bird list of 190 species recorded at the farm which is ranked 86th for the entire United States in Cornell's eBird database. River Otter, Black Bear, Mountain Lion, Elk, Mule Deer, Red Fox, and Mink have all also been seen on the property.
